Sept Planning Meeting

We will meet in the SHS Media Center at 6:30pm on Tuesday 9/27.  We will be discussing the event and starting various committees.  The cost of the event has been set at $100.  Registration deadline will be April 1 (Cost increases to $125 after April 1).  Registration info will be posted to this site when it is ready.

May Planning Meeting

Current balance is $12277 toward the goal of $15000 by June.

Trivia Night Update
- Betsy reviewed the rundown on how the evening would work.
- Overview of how the seven rounds of trivia will work.  Tami Zigler is running 
- Shared the mini-events that occur between rounds (eg. raffles)
- Discussion on how Wine Grab would operate
- Tweeting requests for help from Junior class

Discussion of possible future fundraising:
- looking into possible Coffee event
- possible Winery event in mid-August (investigate a raffle for graduation seating or parking)
- possible 'pass the hat' at Robin Hood (doubtful)

Like previous years, the junior parents will be running the Checkin table at this year's graduation so the senior parents can enjoy graduation.  Need 27 junior adults to help with check-in.  Occurs from 7:45 (right after grad ceremony) to 9:30 (when they load the buses).  Will send out email to Junior Parents.

MOD Pizza Dine-out

MOD Pizza will donate 20% of your check to SHS 2017 Grad Night.   This fundraiser runs ALL DAY on Tuesday, March 29 and is valid on dine-in, phone, and takeout orders.

Planning Meeting (March 2016)

Notes from the  March meeting for the 2017 Grad Night Event:  Monday, March 7 at 6:30pm in the SHS Media Center.

Fundraising total: $10,100.52.  Thank you to everyone who has participated and assisted with the fundraising events so our kids can have a fun, safe Graduation Night.  

Review of Bingo Night
  • Betsy did an awesome job of leading this event.
  • Raised over $4000 
    • $1735 Golf and Gov't Camp raffles
    • $1475 Bingo Sales
    • $1246 50/50 Raffles
  • Had 10 juniors helping out with the event.
Dine out nights
  • 3/16 Jersey MIkes
  • 3/29 MOD Pizza
  • 4/15 Panda
  • 4/26 Generations
  • The Office (possible)
  • 4/1 Growler House (5-8pm) ($20/person for meal and beer tasting from two breweries.)
  • 4/12 503 Uncorked with Silpada  (5:30 to 8:30pm)
  • End of April 50/50 raffle at spring play.  Looking into possibility of holding raffle on one night each week (end of April)
  • April Small group book swap.  In this personal fundraiser, you invite your friends, have a small cover charge, bring ~5 books, have some refreshments and a little raffle and head home with some new-to-you books.
  • May 21 Trivia night at Elks.  Betsy has beer donated for the event.  Similar setup to Bingo night..
  • Mid-June Car Wash @Kohl's (tentatively during Cruisin' Sherwood)
  • Late summer. possible event at Rallison Cellars
Butter Braids
22 participants.  Grossed $3700 and made $1537 profit.

Grad Night Planning meeting at SHS Media Center, Tuesday February 9th at 6:30pm.

Income to Date: $3900
Summary of Dec/Jan events
  • Basketball Concessions $880
  • Hoopswagg socks: $844
  • 50/50 raffle at basketball game $33
ButterBraid Fundraiser
Starting a week early (Wednesday Feb 10).  All order forms are due on March 2).  Delivery on March 16 at Sherwood Ice Arena.  (Easter is 3/27; spring break is 3/21-25)

50/50 Raffle
Learned a lot from the first 50/50 raffle.  Have a couple parents who will volunteer to help so we can recruit more students to circulate through the crowd.  Next 50/50 raffle at Varsity doubleheader basketball game (Feb 16).  Looking into possibly doing something at the spring musical.

February Dine-outs
  • Menchies (Feb 23/24) (10% off with flyer or mention of SHS)
  • Papa Murphys (Feb 23) Donate 20% over their normal Tuesday Sales -- no flyers/mention needed
Elks Club Bingo (Feb 27)
Update from Betsy
  • We have a professional Bingo Caller.
  • Food (Tacos, fries, tots and chicken strip) from the Elks.  Proceeds of food sales go to the Elks.
  • Beer, Wine, and soda has been donated.  Proceeds at front bar go to SHS grad night. 
  • $15 buys your cards and marker.
  • Four games of bingo followed by 50/50 raffle, more games, columbia/nike raffle, more games
  • Passes to Columbia Store and Nike store were donated for raffle.
  • after last two games, there will be a live auction for Gov't Camp and Portland Golf.  Payment can be made using Square credit card reader.
  • Setup at 4pm.  Need 6-8 people to help to setup (excellent opportunity for kids)
  • two juniors have volunteer to help the emcee of the event
  • need 2-3 people with food handler license to help in the kitchen
  • Elks giving us a discount on room rental fee ($100).  Need volunteers to do short service projects in the spring.
  • Need email to kids to share volunteer opportunities that they can do to support their grad night
  • Event is same night as Swingin' with Spagetti and Rec high school basketball tourney.
March Dine-out
  • Jersey Mikes March 16 from 4-8pm (donate 40% of all sales; no flyer needed).  They suggested getting students to stand in parking lot and sidewalk to promote.
April Dine-out
  • 503 Uncorked with Silpada (tentative April 12 from 5:30-8:30)  Last year, 15% was donated to grad night (~$200).  We should be able to do better.
Book Swap
This is an idea for a "personal fundraiser".  It has been very successful (~$500) with other events.
Someone hosts the event at their house.  You invite your friends via email/facebook.  It is not open to the general public...just your friend network.  Bring 5-10 books that you would like to swap.  Pay $20 at the door.  Take home 5-10 books.  Have a silent auction with raffle prizes.  Event usually happens mid-week.  It is typically over in less than 2 hours (eg. 6:30-8pm).  If you are interested in hosting an event for your friend network, contact....

May event:  Trivia night at the Elks Club.  Setup will be similar to Bingo Night.

50/50 Raffle at Varsity Basketball games

Help support the Class of 2017!! The junior class will be selling 50/50 Raffle tickets at both Varsity basketball games on this Friday, January 29th. Tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5.....bring some extra cash to the game!!!  Drawing will be at half time of each game and you need to be present to win.

January Planning Meeting

Please attend the next 2017 Grad Night Event meeting:  Monday, January 11 at 6:30pm in the SHS Media Center.

We have already held several fundraising events and raised over $2,000 but we need everyone's help.  Please come to the meeting to get informed on what we have done, what is in the works and how you can get involved.  It may seem early, but this is the year to raise money so that we can secure a venue in June for our students.  Have questions about grad night? Visit our website at
